Jenica's Lunch Date

For the past several days, Jenica's been asking me if I'd pick her up from school at noon so we could go out for lunch.  Well, yesterday was that day. (Blessing #339) Since she only gets 30 minutes for lunch, I went to Subway early to get our food, and then picked her up from school so we wouldn't lose any precious time together.  We decided to enjoy our lunch at north park (#340), but it was too cold and windy to sit outside.  That's okay.  It was still a nice setting.

Since yesterday was Leap Year, Subway gave away a free cookie to every customer that walks through their doors.  (I let Jenica have the cookie.)  Hooray for Leap Year!  (#341)

And for dessert ~ Chocolate Covered Strawberries!  They were amazing!  (Jenica agreed.)  (#342)

We noticed the swans lying in the grass and moved over where we could see them better.  Swans are so elegant and graceful to watch in the water.  They're beautiful!  I'm thankful that someone donated them to our park years ago.  (#343)

But they became curious of us and started walking towards the car.  (#344)

They kept getting closer . . .

. . . and closer . . .

. . . and closer.  Until they were right beside the car.

We wondered if they'd peck at our tires, or peek into our windows, or look into the side mirror (like our friendly cardinal at home).  One laid down.  So we threw him a sunchip.

Unfortunately, Jenica's lunch half-hour was about over, so I had to get her back to school.  I love opportunities to spend quality time with Jenica.  Because Jillian is pretty much linked to my hip, it doesn't happen very often.  Which made yesterday's lunch with Jenica even more special.  (#345)
